Job Description:
As a Data Integrations Engineer, you will be the technical lead on new client implementations at Curae. You will own the hands-on work of getting hospital and health system data into our platform — from explaining our data specification to hospital technical staff, to setting up SFTP servers and credentials, to validating inbound test data and operationalizing the ongoing delivery of those files. This role sits at the intersection of client-facing technical communication, data validation, and integration engineering. You will be the person who turns a signed contract into a live, reliable, production-grade data feed.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Lead on Implementations
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for hospital and health system IT, revenue cycle, and vendor teams during implementation.
- Communicate Curae’s data specification clearly and confidently, translating between business requirements and technical detail.
- Set expectations, timelines, and milestones for the technical portion of each implementation and drive them to completion.
Secure Data Transfer & Credentialing
- Set up and configure SFTP servers, directories, and access controls for new clients.
- Generate and distribute SFTP credentials and keys to hospital technical staff following established security practices.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, authentication, and file delivery issues end-to-end.
Data Validation & Operationalization
- Review inbound test files (patient balances, encounters, payments, adjustments, etc.) for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to specification.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and anomalies, and work directly with client teams to remediate them before go-live.
- Partner with engineering and data teams to operationalize recurring data feeds, including scheduling, monitoring, and alerting for production deliveries.
- Validate that data aligns with real-world revenue cycle workflows, not just the letter of the spec.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Client Success teams to ensure implementations align with platform capabilities and downstream analytics needs.
- Provide structured feedback from implementations to improve the data specification, onboarding process, and internal tooling.
- Act as the voice of the client when data realities conflict with theoretical models.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain clear documentation of client-specific data mappings, credentials, assumptions, and known limitations.
- Identify recurring implementation challenges and recommend process or tooling improvements to reduce friction and time-to-value.
- Help standardize best practices for healthcare data onboarding as Curae scales.
Experience and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Professional Experience
- 4–8 years of experience in data integration, technical implementation, integration engineering, or a similar hands-on technical client-facing role.
- Demonstrated experience leading the technical side of B2B data onboarding with enterprise clients.
Technical Skills
- Strong SQL skills and comfort validating large datasets for accuracy and completeness.
- Hands-on experience setting up and administering SFTP servers, managing credentials, and working with SSH keys.
- Experience working with flat files (CSV, TXT, fixed-width), data schemas, and file-based integrations.
- Working knowledge of data pipelines and ingestion processes — you don’t need to build them from scratch, but you need to understand how they work and where they break.
- Scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, or similar for ad-hoc data validation and automation.
- Familiarity with secure data handling practices for PHI and PII.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in healthcare data (revenue cycle, patient accounting, EHR extracts) or financial services data.
- Exposure to healthcare standards and systems (HL7, 837/835, Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, Meditech, etc.).
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) in a data integration context.
Communication & Execution
- Client-Facing Technical Communication: Confident and professional with both technical counterparts (hospital IT) and non-technical stakeholders (revenue cycle leaders).
- Project Discipline: Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple implementations in parallel without losing threads.
- Pragmatic Rigor: Direct and comfortable pushing back when data quality or process shortcuts create downstream risk.
Why This Role Matters
Implementations are where Curae’s platform meets the real world. A smooth, well-executed integration sets up every downstream team — analytics, client success, operations — for success. A poor integration creates months of cleanup. You will be the difference between “the data technically loaded” and “this actually works in production.”
